Keynote: The New Role and Responsibilities of the Food Safety Professional in the COVID-19 World
The past year was quite a challenge! The coronavirus pandemic brought with it new challenges and a continuation of old challenges for food safety professionals. This Keynote Presentation will be presented by Craig Wilson, VP, GMM, Costco. He will identify the issues he faced over the past year and share his experience addressing them at Costco. He will discuss the expanded role of the food safety professional in crisis management; how to keep employees and shoppers safe; civil liberties vs. common sense; remote work; virtual auditing; working with all company departments such as human resources; the evolving role of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration in today’s food industry; the consequences of misinformation; supply chain disruptions; and how to reconcile conflicting guidelines from federal, state, and local regulators. This keynote will set the stage for the educational content that will be presented throughout the Food Safety Summit. Craig will engage all attendees in a lively and informative Q&A after his presentation.
