Ernest Julian, Ph.D. is Assistant Director of Health with the Rhode Island Department of Health. Prior to this, he was Chief of the Center for Food Protection for over 30 years. He is Past President of the Association of Food and Drug Officials, and was Chair of the NSF Council of Public Health Consultants. He serves as Co-chair of the Healthy People 2030 Foodborne Illness Reduction Committee, on the Council to Improve Foodborne Outbreak Response (CIFOR), and he is a co-author of the CIFOR Guidelines for Foodborne Outbreak Response. He serves on the CDC FSMA Surveillance Workgroup, and he is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Brown University. He is a recipient of the Wiley and Eaton Smith Awards, the FDA Commissioner’s Special Citation, the John J. Guzewich Environmental Public Health Award, and the CDC & ATSDR Honor Award.
