Food Safety Manager
Fresh Local Produce of Ohio

Gina Frontino served as a Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manager at Fresh Local Produce of Ohio with a Masters in Food Safety Microbiology from The University of Vermont in 2019. As the FSQA Manager at FLP of Ohio she developed and implemented the start up company's Food Safety System and achieved SQF Safety and Quality Certification for Edition 8.1 for the hydroponic production of lettuce. Gina's experiences do not stop at the regulatory level, during her masters she conducted research for her Advisor Dr. Catherine Donnelly for comparing all environmental monitoring detection methods for Listeria monocytogenes on porous surfaces to support cheese aging practices using wooden surfaces. The project was published in March 2019 " Comparative Recovery of Listeria monocytogenes from Dairy Environmental Surfaces using 3M and World Bioproducts Environmental Swabs with Standard Enrichment and Enumeration Methods." Gina currently works as an Environmental Microbiology Investigator at Perrigo Nutritionals in VT, where she uses her expertise in Environmental Monitoring to control the production environment from pathogen contamination through root cause analysis.
