The 29th session of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and World Health Organization (WHO) Codex Coordinating Committee for Europe (CCEURO) took place in The Netherlands from September 30 through October 3, 2014. The role of CCEURO is to define the problems and needs of the region concerning food standards and food control. Thus CCEURO represents a platform for European countries to meet and discuss food safety matters, as well as to exchange experiences and views, and network. This particular session brought together 47 delegations and 135 participants.
Among other discussed topics, the European regional offices of WHO and FAO presented on their capacity building work, which was received with positive feedback from the participants. The session was preceded by a Joint WHO/FAO workshop on strengthening effective participation in Codex.
