Last week, PURE Bioscience, Inc. unveiled PURE Control®, the newest addition to the company’s product line that designed for use in poultry processing facilities.
PURE Control has been developed as an antimicrobial poultry processing aid for direct application to poultry carcasses, parts and organs to reduce pathogen populations. It maximizes microbial control and is highly effective against Salmonella, Listeria, E. coli and many other pathogens.
Test results show consistent reductions in pathogen levels, including the potential to reduce Salmonella on raw poultry to below detection levels. The final step in the regulatory approval process for commercialization of PURE Control for poultry is to obtain U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) approval. The approval process will involve plant trials with the USDA and are expected to take 45-60 days.
“We believe PURE Control will be an important breakthrough to help make poultry safer for consumers, as raw poultry processors combat prevalent and persistent contaminants,” says Hank Lambert, CEO of PURE Bioscience. “Attaining FDA approval as a direct food contact processing aid for poultry is a huge milestone for PURE. It marks the first food contact U.S Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for our patented SDC antimicrobial technology. We have also received FDA approval for use as a produce processing aid.”
