JBS USA, Inc.'s Lenoir, NC location has recalled 17.7 tons of raw ground beef products due to possible contamination by way of extraneous plastic materials.
The recalled meat products, all produced on March 22, 2018, and stamped with “EST. 34176” on the inspection label, bear a number of brand names, including Kroger, Kroger’s Private Selection, All Natural Laura’s, and JBS. The meat was all shipped to distribution centers in Virginia and Indiana for further distribution to various retail locations.
JBS was made aware of the problem after a customer complained about the presence of blue plastic pieces in a package of ground beef.
To date, there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to the consumption of these products.
FSIS is concerned that some product may be frozen and in consumers’ freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
