After a selection process, the UK Food Standards Agency (FSA) has appointed Katie Pettifer, M.A. as its permanent Chief Executive.

Ms. Pettifer has served as FSA’s interim Chief Executive since September 2024, and has been FSA’s Director of Strategy since July 2021. She joined FSA from the UK Office of Communications where she was Director of Public Policy, and has held Senior Civil Service roles in the UK Ministry of Justice, Cabinet Office, and Northern Ireland Office.

Ms. Pettifer takes the role of Chief Executive in FSA’s 25th anniversary year, coinciding with the emergence of initiatives like the UK Plan for Change, the development of a food strategy in England, and the implementation of Food Matters: Wales and the Northern Ireland Food Strategy.
