Frank Yiannas to Lead September Workshop on Food Safety Culture in Chicago for NEMIS Academy

In September, NEMIS Technologies' NEMIS Academy will host a one-day, in-person workshop on food safety culture led by Frank Yiannas, M.P.H., former U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Deputy Commissioner for Food Policy and Response, renowned food safety expert and author, and seasoned food industry leader in the private sector. All attendees will be granted a certificate of completion at the end of the workshop.

The event will take place in Chicago, Illinois on September 9, 2025, from 9:30 A.M.–5:00 P.M. CT. It will provide insight into assessing and improving food safety practices, informed by Mr. Yiannas’ extensive experience and teachings from his published works. Participants will gain practical tools and real-world applications to manage food safety risks effectively and help prepare for future challenges in their careers.

Attendees can expect to gain from the workshop the ability to:

  • Identify the core attributes of an effective food safety culture
  • Understand cultural and behavioral science principles to foster a robust culture in which food safety and quality is prioritized
  • Recognize the difference between traditional food safety/quality management versus a behavior-based food safety/quality approach
  • Strengthen food safety and quality as part of the organization’s value or belief system, so that compliance is attained the right way, every day—even when no one is looking
  • Improve the effectiveness of training, education, and communication efforts, and create smarter quality goals and metrics for organizations and their teams
  • Optimize the use of positive and negative consequences to influence behavior.
