The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced today that new leadership will be in place come January 2015. Dr. Susan T. Mayne, currently a professor and chair at the Yale School of Public Health, will lead the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition. She will be replacing Michael M. Landa, who has run the Center since 2010.
Over the course of her 26-year career, Mayne has accomplished quite a resume, including:

Authored or coauthored more than 200 scientific publications.

A solid background in health leadership, nutrition, toxicology, epidemiology and strong knowledge of the FDA’s public health mission.

Experience collaborating on multiple projects and jobs with organizations such as the National Institutes of Health, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Board of the National Academy of Sciences, the Board of Scientific Counselors for the U.S. National Cancer Institute.
