Functional Technologies Corp. has reported that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has accepted their generally recognized as safe (GRAS) notice that was submitted earlier this year for its acrylamide-preventing yeast strains.
In its GRAS submission, the company provided experimental data to support its claim that their proprietary acrylamide-preventing yeast should be GRAS. This yeast is now included on FDA’s list of GRAS substances, joining such products as baker’s yeast and other commercial yeasts.
