Food Safety Magazine, primary media sponsor of the Global Food Safety Conference in Berlin, Germany, partnered with the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) to capture feedback and observations on the conference itself and how the lessons learned can and will be implemented in the ever-changing world of food safety.
Among such topics as crisis management, global trade regulations and harmonization, corporate food safety culture and food fraud, more than 900 food safety professionals from over 50 countries gathered to work toward GFSI’s mission of safe food for people everywhere.
Onsite interviews with industry leaders helped capture the collaborative and interactive nature of the conference. In the video that follows, former U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Deputy Commissioner Mike Taylor discusses the harmonization of food safety standards; head of Own Brand and Product QA, Metro Group, Gerald Erbach explains why he's eager to learn more about big data and how it intersects with food quality; and GFSI board member and senior director QA and product sustainability, Royal Ahold, Anita Scholte Op Reimer talks about how the conference is addressing consumers' need for more product transparency and traceability.
