Stop Foodborne Illness has announced its third annual STOP3000 taking place during the month of September, which is National Food Safety Education Month.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that an estimated 3,000 people die annually due to foodborne illness. Additionally, over 48 million people get sick from a foodborne pathogen each year.
STOP3000 aims to raise awareness and honor the 3,000 yearly deaths caused by foodborne illness in the U.S. During National Food Safety Education Month, STOP3000 asks participants to walk 3,000 steps a day, every day to raise funds in support of Stop Foodborne Illness. Every dollar raised by STOP3000 participants up to $100,000 will be matched thanks to a generous challenge grant.
