Recent research commissioned by the UK Food Standards Agency (FSA) provides an overview of the ways in which labor shortages in critical food system roles are affecting food safety and availability, as well as FSA’s ability to carry out its responsibilities. 

Faced with oat shortages domestically, some food manufacturers have looked to international sources of gluten-free oats with mixed success due to concerns about comingling. One option for obtaining high-quality oats is to source oats that are certified as gluten-free.

In light of the current infant formula supply shortage, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will enter a consent decree with Abbott Nutrition that will allow the company to resume production of formula products at its Sturgis, Michigan facility. FDA also released a guidance that will allow formula manufacturers and importers greater flexibility.
