Trustwell recently rolled out a new Product Management solution and accompanying Embedded Analytics tools for its FoodLogiQ platform, tailored to the food industry.

The European Food Fraud Community of Practice (EFF-CoP) is a newly formed research and innovation coalition funded by the EU and coordinated by University College Dublin, the goal of which is to combat food fraud by gathering thousands of diverse stakeholders to share knowledge and collaborate on different activities.

CDC has announced that the Escherichia coli outbreak linked to yellow onions distributed by Taylor Farms and served at McDonald’s restaurants to be over, and FDA has closed its investigation. However, the outbreak strain was not confirmed in any product or environmental samples.

Although the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) was investigating a grower of interest in Washington state, the agency has been unable to definitively implicate a grower in the Escherichia coli outbreak linked to onions supplied by Taylor Farms and served at McDonald’s.

A new partnership between Trace Register and Foa and Son International Insurance Brokers provides incentive for the seafood industry to receive product contamination and recall insurance by applying half of insurance premiums toward Trace Register seafood traceability subscription costs.

Amid the ongoing E. coli outbreak, Taylor Farms has been confirmed as the onion supplier to the affected McDonald’s locations. As a result, national restaurant chains are proactively pulling onions from their menus. FDA is still investigating whether onions are the vehicle of illness.

Trace Register’s TR5 seafood traceability platform has successfully passed the Global Dialogue on Seafood Traceability’s (GDST’s) capability test, and also maintains backward compatibility with older systems.
