Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) has released two new resource documents.

First, FSANZ published a new compilation of the Food Standards Code to help stakeholders more easily navigate the Code. The compilation is a searchable PDF that brings together all 80 Standards and 29 Schedules comprising the Code into a single document. It will be updated whenever a change to the Code is gazetted.

Additionally, FSANZ has published the 2024 edition of the Principles and Practices of Dietary Exposure Assessment for Food Regulatory Purposes, offering updated guidance on how the agency conducts dietary exposure assessments for chemicals like food additives, contaminants, natural toxicants, agricultural and veterinary residues, novel ingredients, and packaging chemicals. The document is regularly revised to reflect advancements in regulatory science, and serves as a key reference for understanding the principles FSANZ follows when conducting dietary exposure assessments; the processes used to estimate dietary exposure to food chemicals; and how the agency uses information, including data submitted in applications, to estimate dietary exposure.
