The Center for Produce Safety (CPS) has highlighted industry members that have renewed their financial commitments to advancing fresh produce safety. Their contributions support research backed by CPS that contributes to produce safety to protect public health and strengthen consumer confidence in the food supply.
Renewing supporters include Silver Contributors ($100,000–$249,000) Western Precooling, Steinbeck Country Produce, and Guimarra Companies, as well as Bronze Plus Contributor ($50,000–$99,000) the Oppenheimer Group.
Since 2007, CPS has funded 236 research projects across 48 institutions worldwide, investing over $46.5 million in food safety advancements. These projects enhance safety in production, packing, processing, and distribution. Key research backed by CPS includes annual grant programs tackling the produce industry’s most pressing needs, rapid-response research to address urgent food safety concerns, and comprehensive studies aimed at improving food safety protocols across the supply chain.
