Atlas Copco is the first compressor manufacturer to receive ISO 22000 certification by Lloyd’s Register for its production facility in Antwerp, Belgium. The facility manufactures state-of-the-art oil-free air compressors, blowers and air treatment products.
ISO 22000 specifies the food safety management system (FSMS) requirements for organizations in the food chain. The FSMS demonstrates the organization’s ability to control food safety hazards in order to ensure that food is safe at the time of human consumption.
In many applications, compressed air comes into contact with the end-product or even forms an active part of the food, therefore Atlas Copco decided to go for this highly valuable certification.
“Intensive workshops and thoroughly executed audits by Lloyd’s Register demonstrated that Atlas Copco is ready to comply with the highest standards in the food industry with its Oil-free compressors. The same Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point and procedures as used in the top quality food companies have been implemented in the design and production of compressors, blowers and air treatment products. At Atlas Copco, we are committed to the sustainable productivity of our customers and we will continue creating positive value for our stakeholders,” says Chris Lybaert, President, Oil-free Air Division.
Most leading food manufacturers across the globe are becoming increasingly ?stringent about quality at source and welcome a benchmark for?the compressed air industry. Thanks to this ISO standard with clear?requirements that can be audited, customers can rely on Atlas Copco as a compliant compressor manufacturer for their products and processes.
