The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has updated Chapter 9, “Environmental Chemical Contaminants Including Pesticides,” of its Fish and Fishery Products Hazards and Controls Guidance, June 2022 Edition. The revisions to the guidance reflects FDA’s regulations for the safe and sanitary processing and importing of fish and fishery products using a Hazards Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) framework.
The guidance is intended to assist processors of fish and fishery products in the development of HACCP plans. The guidance is also intended to serve as a tool to be used by federal and state regulatory officials in the evaluation of HACCP plans for fish and fishery products.
