Hygiena has highlighted recent appointments of two of its representatives to important food industry associations. In July 2024, Mark Carter, M.S.A., PCQI, Hygiena Senior Global Software Product Manager, became President of the International Association for Food Protection (IAFP); and in August 2024, Danièle Sohier, Ph.D., Hygiena Director of Scientific Affairs, assumed the role of President at AOAC International.

In addition to his position at Hygiena, Mark Carter is the CEO of consultancy MC Squared Enterprises Inc. Before joining Hygiena, Mark was COO of Matrix Sciences and CEO of QCL. His background also includes roles at Kraft Foods and McKee Foods Corporation, where he focused on microbiology and food safety. Mark’s involvement with IAFP dates back to 1993, during which time has served in various leadership roles, including serving on multiple committees and co-founding the Sample Prep working group. He also participates in IAFP technical symposia, poster presentations, and Applied Laboratory Methods and Food Sanitation and Hygiene Professional Development Groups.

Dr. Danièle Sohier joined Hygiena in April 2023, bringing with her over two decades of experience in scientific research and public health. Her industry achievements include the first harmonized ISO 16140-part 6/AOAC-OMA validation, which was awarded Method of the Year by AOAC in 2018. Danièle’s contributions were most recently recognized with the AOAC International Fellow Award.
